INVESTIGATION TO THE DESIGN OF AIR-COOLING AND DEHUMIDIFYING COILS.

Summary

TO CALCULATE AIR-COOLING AND DEHUMIDIFYING COILS WITH A GOOD ACCURACY, IT IS NECESSARY TO MEASURE THE HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DRY COIL. TWO COMPUTER CODES ARE DESCRIBED. THE FIRST WORKS TUBE-ROW BY TUBE-ROW, THE SECOND WITH AN INTEGRAL BALANCE FOR THE DRY AND THE WET PART OF THE COIL. CHECKING THESE CODES WITH THE HELP OF MEASUREMENTS ON 6 DIFFERENT COILS SHOWS THEIRUSEFULNESS. THE DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN MEASUREMENTS AND CALCULATIONS ARE LESS THAN 8% AND AT THE AIR OUTLET STATES 1 K FOR THE TEMPERATURE AND 1 G/KG FOR HUMIDITY. THE INFLUENCE OF THE DRAINING CONDENSATE FILM IS DISCUSSED. FOR ELLIPTICAL TUBES IT IS NECESSARY TO USE A COSTLY FINITE-DIFFERENCE-METHOD FOR ESTIMATING THE FIN EFFICIENCY TO AVOID LARGER DISCREPANCIES.
