Summary

This article is the Spanish translation of an article presented at the IIR conference in Karlsruhe, Germany (see the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2009-1788). To develop an isothermal container that is suitable for transporting materials used for regenerative medicine, the authors experimentally investigated how well a prototype one performed. The prototype was an acrylic container with vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) and phase changing material as its thermal storage medium. The thermal storage medium is n-Eicosane, a kind of carbon hydrate material with a melting temperature of 36.4°C. The contents to be transported are sandwiched between packages of the phase changing material. The results of testing show that this container maintained the temperature of the contents at 36 plus or minus 0.5°C over 10 hours in ambient temperature of 0°C. The effect on the sustaining time of the VIPs was about 20% that of the polystyrene. These results show this container is well suited for transporting cell sheets for regenerative medicine.
