Summary

JOSEPHSON EFFECTS IN SNS JUNCTIONS WITHOUT TRANSPORT CURRENTS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED ON QUASIPARTICLE INJECTION INTO ONE OF THE SUPERCONDUCTING ELECTRODES. THE INJECTION CURRENT DEPENDENCE OF THE VOLTAGE AT THE JUNCTION WAS SIMILAR TO AN ORDINARY I-V CHARACTERISTIC. THE EFFECTS ARE BELIEVED TO BE DUE TO COUNTERFLOWS OF NORMAL AND SUPERCOMPONENTS APPEARING WHEN THE LONGITUDINAL ELECTRIC FIELD PENETRATES INTO THE WEAK LINK.
