Summary

MICROSCOPIC THEORY OF JOSEPHSON EFFECT IN TUNNEL JUNCTIONS WHICH HAVE ONE OR BOTH ELECTRODES AS SN SANDWICH IS DEVELOPED. IT IS SHOWN THAT SPACE DEPENDENCE OF ORDER PARAMETER IN S-AREA LEADS TO ESSENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM THE PREDICTIONS OF MCMILLAN TUNNELING MODEL. NUMERICAL RESULTS ARE IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH EXPERIMENTAL DATA FOR NIOBIUM-BASED TUNNEL JUNCTIONS.
