THE DESIGNS OF TWO, LARGE, HORIZONTAL HELIUM CRYOSTATS WITH VAPOUR COOLED RADIATION SHIELDS (A GRAVITATIONAL WAVE DETECTOR CRYOSTAT AND AN ACCELERATOR CRYOSTAT) ARE DESCRIBED. THE PROBLEMS OF COOLING HEAVY INSERTS AND LARGE VERTICAL INDIUM SEALS WITH STAINLESS STEEL FLANGES ARE DISCUSSED.
