Learning from the past: old buildings give lessons in energy efficiency.
Author(s) : SHACKLETON R.
Type of article: Article
Summary
There is nothing new about displacement ventilation, argues the author. It is a re-statement of the principles that dictated the design of medieval cottages which kept them cool in summer and warm in winter. He concludes that by using this concept, electric technology can provide good air quality without the use of excessive energy.
