NOTES THAT THE EXISTENCE OF SEVERAL GUIDES AND CODES OF PRACTICE DETAILING PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN AGAINST THE RISK OF LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE HAS LED TO SUGGESTIONS THAT THERE MAY BE CONFUSION OVER WHICH GUIDANCE SHOULD BE USED. IN ADDITION THE SECOND REPORT OF THE INQUIRY INTO THE OUTBREAK AT STAFFORD BADENOCH REPORT) RECOMMENDED THAT EARLY ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO RECONCILE THE MINOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE CODES. REPORTS THAT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE, THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY AND THE CHARTERED INSTITUTION OF BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEERS HAVE NOW CONSIDERED THESE POINTS, AND DISCUSSES THE VARIOUS GUIDES AND THEIR APPLICATION.
