Liquid gases in cryotherapeutic applications: present status and perspective development.

Summary

The paper describes the basic features of cryomedical devices, namely apparatuses for cryosurgery, cryotherapy - both local and whole body. An estimation of present and future development of cryomedicine in Poland is made. The growth of the cryomedical device market is analysed together with its impact on the consumption of liquid gases. Alternative technologies based on membrane air separation and the cascade vapour-compression cycle are presented.
