THE ARTICLE CONCERNS PROBLEMS ARISING FROM LIQUID REFRIGERANT RETURN TO A COMPRESSOR, OR REFRIGERANT MIGRATION TO A COMPRESSOR CRANKCASE. THE RESULTANT MALFUNCTIONING IS DESCRIBED INCLUDING VALVE AND MOTOR DAMAGE, AND LUBRICATION BREAKDOWN DUE TO OIL FOAMING. CORRECTIVE ACTION IS SUGGESTED, WITH THE EMPHASIS ON REDUCING THE NECESSARY REFRIGERANT CHARGE, THUS AVOIDING TROUBLE SHOULD TEMPORARY REFRIGERANT MIGRATION OR RETURN TAKE PLACE.
