Summary

A local cooling system based on district heating supply has been demonstrated in the city of Herning, Denmark. The cooling energy is produced by HCFC-free cooling systems. The cooling plant is one of two designed, built and monitored under Demlocs, a joint Danish-Finnish project. Demlocs operates with an innovative building service system, ThermoNet. The plant in Herning uses an ejector cooler and the second plant, in Helsinki in Finland, uses absorption chillers. Both plants use district heat as driving energy, the district heating temperatures being only 80-85 °C.
