Low GWP insulation blowing agents and methods of measurement of efficiency.

Number: pap. n. 575

Author(s) : LAWTON R., MYNOTT T., MARSHALL N.

Summary

Blowing agents for the insulation of intermodal containers in Europe are no longer allowed to contain HCFC’s and HFC’s. This is due to potential environmental damage on their release into the atmosphere. Such blowing agents are also being phased out in other parts of the world. Data is presented on the thermal efficiency of container insulation with low GWP blowing agents and the effects on results of various methods of measurement of insulation efficiency. Container design is also considered.
