Summary

Magnetic properties of a melt-processed YBCO superconductor, 30 x 30 x 1.9 mm, with a high critical current density at 77 K, were studied by using a microsize Hall probe with an active area of 50 x 50 mm. Two-dimensional distributions of the local magnetic induction, over the sample surface were measured at 77 K in perpendicular magnetic fields of up to 100 milliT. External magnetic field dependence of the local magnetic induction at several positions was also measured in perpendicular magnetic fields of up to 1.4 T. The magnetization process on these positions of the YBCO superconductor clearly indicated the behaviour of the critical state and the edge effect.
