Measured performance of a reflective roofing system in a Florida commercial building.
Author(s) : PARKER D. S., SHERWIN J. R., SONNE J. K.
Summary
The paper reports on the first results from tests on a reflective roofing system on a commercial building in Florida. The building is a elementary school with a sloped, modified bitumen roof. The school, which was monitored for a full year in both the pre- and post-condition, saw the measured annual chiller electric power reduced by 10%, or 13,000 kilowatthour/year. Cooling-load reductions during the utility summer peak were substantially greater, more than 30% during the afternoon hours.
