Type of article: Article

Summary

THE OVERALL COMPRESSOR NOISE LEVEL IS DETERMINED BY THE AIR NOISE, BY THE PULSATION OF REFRIGERANT DISCHARGED BY THE COMPRESSOR AND BY THE COMPRESSOR'S OWN VIBRATION. THE METHODS OF MEASURING ACOUSTIC PRESSURE LEVEL IN A REVERBERATION CHAMBER AND IN A FREE-SOUND FIELD ABOVE A SOUND-REFLECTING PLANE ARE DESCRIBED. INCLUDED ARE REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCH TESTS, A METHOD OF COMPARING VIBRATION MEASUREMENTS OF RECIPROCATING REFRIGERANT COMPRESSORS BY MEANS OF A MEASURING PLATE, AND A METHOD OF MEASURING HERMETIC REFRIGERANT COMPRESSOR VIBRATION BY FINDING THE EXCITING FORCES AND MOMENTS.
