Summary

This paper deals with problems of inside air quality in selected workshops as well as health hazards caused by air pollution. The personnel is the most influenced by hazardous effects caused by long-term inside air pollutants. The definitions of the basic quantities such as: air circulation rate, dwell time of air in a room, efficiency of air exchange, and average age of air in a room have been presented. Close attention has been paid to ventilation efficiency and methods of calculation of the required fresh air for ventilation purposes. Inside air quality has been treated as a separate problem. Recommendations for mechanical ventilation systems and air-conditioning, legislation measures as well as propositions of improvements of inside air quality in various service workshops such as: hairdresser's shops, beauty parlours, gym halls, fitness clubs, massage studios, solariums etc. have been discussed.
