Metal hydride cooling for space applications.

Author(s) : STRUMPF H. J.

Summary

The paper presents descriptions of three metal hydride systems investigated by Honeywell Aerospace. These systems include a 10 K sorption cryocooler system for periodic cooling of a focal plane array for a low-earth orbit satellite, a batch-mode astronaut cooling system for extravehicular activity, and a continuous space habitation cabin cooling system to remove electrical and metabolic heat loads.
