Summary

THE BURNING-OUT OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR INSIDE AN HERMETIC COMPRESSOR PRODUCES A LARGE AMOUNT OF CONTAMINANTS THAT MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE REFRIGERATING CIRCUIT AFTER THE MOTOR HAS BEEN RECONDITIONED. IN THIS PAPER IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE REFRIGERANT BE DECONTAMINATED BY INSERTING TEMPORARILY SUITABLE STRAINERS FILLED WITH ABSORBING MATERIAL, AT BOTH THE LIQUID AND THE VAPOUR LINE. THIS PRACTICE HAS PROVEN TO BE EFFECTIVE AND IT IS SIMPLER THAN THE TRADITIONAL CLEANING OF THE CIRCUIT WITH R11 ; MOREOVER, THIS LAST METHOD OUGHT TO BE AVOIDED, BECAUSE OF THE HIGH O E. F.
