Summary

THE SIGN OF THE COOPER PAIRS IN THE SUPERCONDUCTING STATE OF THE CURRENTLY FOUND HIGH-CRITICAL TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS CAN BE BEST MEASURED BY UTILIZING THE SO-CALLED ALTERNATING CURRENT HALL EFFECT. A DIRECT CURRENT MAGNETIC FIELD IS APPLIED NORMAL TO THE SURFACE OF THE SUPERCONDUCTOR AND A PLANAR ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE PERPENDICULARLY POLARIZED INCIDENT UPON THESAMPLE SURFACE. BY MEASURING THE REFLECTED ELECTRIC FIELD POLARIZED IN THE INCIDENT PLANE, ONE COULD DETERMINE THE SIGN AS WELL AS THE MAGNITUDE OF THE ALTERNATING CURRENT HALL COEFFICIENT WHICH PROVIDES A DIRECT MEANS TO DETERMINE THE SIGN AND DENSITY OF THE COOPER PAIRS.
