Modelling of a variable speed hermetic compressor.

Author(s) : RASMUSSEN B. D.

Summary

The subject of the article is the impact of variable speed on the performance of hermetic reciprocating compressors for domestic refrigerators. A dynamic simulation model of a variable speed compressor is presented. The model has features that allow investigation of both general performance characteristics and also details in the motor-compression mechanism behaviour. Preliminary simulation results are presented with R600a (isobutane) as refrigerant. Further development of the model is discussed.
