Summary

First, the resistance to heat flow of two touching deformed spheres is determined by the finite element method. A discrete model is proposed to extend the single contact results to random packings of spheres. The packings are densified by expanding the particle radius. Finally, a continuous analytical expression is proposed to describe the relation between the effective thermal conductivity and the relative density of the packing.
