Summary
CALCULATION OF SPECIFIC VOLUME (MASS) OF SATURATED AND SUPERHEATED REFRIGERANT VAPOUR FROM THE EQUATION OF STATE FOR REFRIGERANT VAPOUR AT A GIVEN PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE USING A MINICOMPUTER IS TEDIOUS AND TIME CONSUMING. A SIMPLIFIED EQUATION OF STATE IS GIVEN, SUITABLE FOR R12 REFRIGERANT IN THE SATURATED VAPOUR RANGE FROM 173 TO 313 K (-100 TO 40 DEG C) WITH AN ERROR LESS THAN 1%, TYPICAL FOR CONVENTIONAL REFRIGERATING AND FREEZING CIRCUITS, BUT LESS SUITABLE FOR AIR CONDITIONING AND HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS. FOR THE TWO LATTER APPLICATIONS A CORRECTION CALCULATION PROCEDURE IS SUGGESTED.
