Summary

The paper describes the exact influence of moisture content in the structure and the variation of heat gain factor (HGF) of the building. The changes in comfort level due to humidity and moisture content are discussed with examples. Two indices have been described with numerical values and thermal comfort conditions. Results show that the increase in HGF is remarkable for lower moisture content by volume (1 to 3 per cent) in building components, whereas for higher moisture contents, the rise in HGF and thermal transmittance values are only marginal. Measures have been suggested to make the indoor climate comfortable.
