IIR document

Multipurpose heat pump for domestic applications.

Author(s) : JONSSON M. E., GRANRYD E.

Summary

The paper gives a brief description of a computer program developed in order to study the behaviour of heat pump/air conditioning systems in different climates and in different installations. The aim of the program is to serve as a tool for simulation of the operation under all prevailing ambient temperatures and for evaluation of the seasonal performance of the system in installations. A heat pump prototype has been designed with components favoured by the simulation program. The aim of the development is a compact, simple and cheap heat pump system intended for space heating/cooling and sanitary hot water production in single family dwellings in different climates of Europe. A laboratory prototype of the heat pump has been built and tested. The experimental results are compared with those predicted by the program with quite satisfying agreement.
