Summary

An experimental and numerical study of natural convection around horizontal tube placed between two isothermal walls at different temperatures is presented. Two experimental set-ups are built for visualizing the flow. An FEM computer code has been applied for analyzing the influence of various parameters on the flow structure and heat transfer. The fluid in the slot is air. On analyzing the heat transfer from the tube, it has been found that the intensity decreased and increased unexpectedly. The explanation can be given after visualization. However, this effect (similar to the movement of hot air in a chimney) is also found to be dependent on the intensity of the heat transfer.
