New compressor technologies: Stirling refrigerators in practice.

Neue Verdichtertechnologien: Stirling-Kältemaschinen in der Praxis.

Author(s) : SCHIKORA H., MAI M.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The authors present a comparison between a Stirling refrigerating system and those using traditional one-stage or two-stage compression cycles. As well as being useful for temperatures around 80 K, the authors claim that the Stirling cycle can be used for very low temperatures, chemical processes and liquefaction. A prototype operating at -40 °C is presented.
