New refrigeration application possibilities for semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors.

Summary
During the last two decades, the refrigerating compressor industry experienced dramatic changes. Currently, there is a reorientation towards the rotary compressors. However, for refrigeration, especially low-temperature applications, semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors in the small and intermediate capacity range will remain a real alternative to rotary compressors in the future. Some reasons are developed to support that statement and various applications are reviewed. Comparisons of semi-hermetic compressors with scroll equipment are also given.
