New technologies allow radical energy savings in seagoing container refrigeration systems.

Author(s) : CROMBIE D.

Summary

The paper describes emerging technologies which halve energy costs over the life cycle of the equipment, while simultaneously improving temperature management. Along with reducing the energy costs of transporting a single refrigerated container, this technology also permits today's ships to increase their refrigerated container cargo, allowing the substitution of high revenue earning refrigerated containers for lower revenue dry boxes.
