Author(s) : GUSTAVSSON J., RAULT J. Y.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE AUTHORS REVIEW THE MECHANISMS OF FILTRATION AND THE PHYSICAL LAWS WHICH RULE IT; THEY EXPLAIN THE GENERAL SHAPE OF EFFICIENCY CURVES OF FILTERS AND THE CONCEPT OF THE PARTICLE SIZE MOST DIFFICULT TO CAPTURE, WHICH IS CHARACTERISTIC OF A FILTER, AND THEY ANALYZE THE INFLUENCE OF PARTICLE DENSITY AND SIZE. THEY THEN DESCRIBE THE OLD MEASUREMENT METHODS AND THE FUTURE ONES FOR ABSOLUTE FILTERS (VDMA IN GERMANY, ASHRAE 52/76, EUROVENT 4/5). THEN, THEY DISCUSS NEW METHODS USING GRANULOMETRIC EFFICIENCY AND PROPOSE VARIOUS DEVICES FOR MEASURING PARTICLE COUNT AND SIZE. THEY DESCRIBE MORE PARTICULARLY A LASER PARTICLE COUNTER, AND ACONDENSATION NODE COUNTER COUPLED WITH AN ELECTROSTATIC CLASSIFIER. J.R.
