THREE BASIC DESIGN CONCEPTS ARE CONSIDERED: COMPRESSORS WITH LINEAR DRIVE, ROTARY AND RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS. THE LATTER IS ANALYSED IN DETAIL. THE MOST IMPORTANT PARAMETERS ARE: LONG OPERATING RELIABILITY AND LIFE,LOW POWER CONSUMPTION, LOW NOISE AND VIBRATION LEVEL, LOW PRIME COST, LOW WEIGHT AND SMALL DIMENSIONS. NEW TRENDS IN COMPRESSOR DESIGN AND PRODUCTION ARE DEMONSTRATED WITH ON ANALYSIS OF THEIR DESIGN AND PRODUCTION FEATURES.
