Noise and vibrations in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.

Geluid en trillingen bij koude-installaties.

Author(s) : DIJKSTRA M. T.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The article presents an introduction to noise and vibration, as well as a definition of sound, the sound pressure level, the sound power level, the frequency and the A-weighting. The relationship between sound level and distance is explained as well as the difference between noise absorption and isolation. The concepts of contact noise and impedance are introduced. The understanding of these concepts are necessary for solving and avoiding noise problems. Finally, some factors regarding the quality of noise measurements are given as well as some measurement techniques used during trouble-shooting.
