Summary

EXCEPT FOR 2 WEEKS, THE TORE SUPRA CRYOGENIC SYSTEM WAS MAINTAINED AT LOW TEMPERATURE FOR 13 MONTHS. THE CRYOGENIC PERFORMANCES WERE CLOSE TO THE EXPECTED VALUES, EXCEPT AT THE 4.5 K LEVEL, WHERE ABOUT 300 WATT EXCESSIVE THERMAL LOAD WAS MEASURED IN THE 3 SATELLITES AND THE CONNECTION LINES. CORRECTIONS TO THE CRYOGENIC DISTRIBUTION CIRCUITS WERE LATER MADE TO REDUCE HEAT LOSSES. THE TORUS WAS LATER BROUGHT BACK TO NOMINAL TEMPERATURE LEVELS AND THE EXPECTED CRYOGENIC PERFORMANCES WERE THEN ACHIEVED.
