NUMERICAL COMPUTATION OF ROOM AIR DISTRIBUTION CONSIDERING NONLINEAR CHARACTERISTICS OF AIR FLOW THROUGH CLEARANCES.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE ARTICLE SHOWS HOW TO COMPUTE AIR FLOW DISTRIBUTION IN A ROOM WHOSE SPACE IS CONNECTED TO THE OUTSIDE AMBIENT AND OTHER SPACES VIA CLEARANCES, DUCTS AND APERTURES. A CONTINUITY EQUATION CAN PROVIDE A SATISFACTORY SOLUTION, BUT EXTREME ACCURACY IS NEEDED IN THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF THE NONLINEAR EQUATION AT THE BOUNDARY CELL CONNECTED WITH OTHER SPACES. A SIMPLE TWO-DIMENSIONAL PROGRAM WAS PREPARED IN ORDER TO COMPUTE THE AIR FLOW AND EVALUATE THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE THERMAL COMFORT INDEX AND THERMAL LOAD.
