Summary
The two time constants derived in this work can be used directly to quantify the relative importance of the two heat transfer processes. This gives an easy way to determine which of the two processes is rate-limiting and needs to be improved. This work has also confirmed that the performance of an adsorptive heat pump system using a traditional packed-bed would be too low, even with a heat regeneration, and therefore a significant enhancement of heat transfer properties inside the adsorber is necessary.
