Summary

IT HAS BEEN REVEALED BY EXPERIMENTS THAT THE LONGITUDINAL MAGNETIC FIELD REQUIRED TO BRING ABOUT THE PARAMAGNETIC EFFECT IN A CYLINDRICAL SUPERCONDUCTOR TRANSFORMED BY A CURRENT INTO THE INTERMEDIATE STATE SHOULD EXCEED A CERTAIN THRESHOLD VALUE. THE LATTER IS SMALLER FOR IMPURE MATERIALS. THE EXISTENCE OF THE THRESHOLD FIELD VALUE PROVES VALIDITY OF THE LONDON MODEL OF THE INTERMEDIATE STATE OF A CURRENT-CARRYING CYLINDER.
