Summary

OIL COOLING IN A REFRIGERATING SYSTEM WITH A SCREW COMPRESSOR IS USUALLY ACCOMPLISHED BY MEANS OF HEAT EXCHANGERS COOLED EITHER BY WATER OR LIQUID REFRIGERANT DRAWN FROM THE CONDENSER. RECENTLY A NEW TECHNIQUE HAS BEEN EMPLOYED AND IS BASED ON LIQUID REFRIGERANT INJECTION INTO THE COMPRESSOR BODY. VARIOUS OIL COOLING METHODS ARE ANALYSED WITH REGARD TO COMPRESSOR OPERATION AND REFRIGERATION SYSTEM COST AND LIQUID INJECTION HAS APPEARED THE CHEAPEST SOLUTION AS REGARDS INVESTMENT, BUT THE MOST EXPENSIVE IN TERMS OF RUNNING COSTS.
