Summary
A calculation method is proposed to estimate the thermal performance of ventilated facades and roofs. The energy saving achievable by using such structures is expressed by a dimensionless five-parameter function; easy-to-read graphs make it possible to obtain all directions required for correct design. As an example, some different types of facades and roofs, commonly used in buildings, have been studied.
