Optimising pump head for energy savings.

Summary
For many years, variable flow systems using two-way control valves have been preferred by air conditioning piping designers, the main reason being the significant pumping cost savings inherent in the design. Variable speed pumps have been a further step in this evolution and their benefit is now accepted by most designers. But in practice when the system is in operation, the variable speed pump often achieves poor performance. Seldom is the pump optimised to meet the cost savings which could be expected.
