THE AUTHOR DETERMINES OPTIMAL OPERATING STRATEGIES OF COLD/FROZEN STORAGE. A LINEAR PROGRAMMING MODEL, WHICH CAN BE USED AS A PLANNING TOOL FOR STORAGE FACILITIES WAS DEVELOPED AND IS PRESENTED. THE OPERATING CAPACITY AND THE COOLING AND FREEZING CAPACITIES OF FACILITIES WERE CONSIDERED AND THE OPTIMISATION OF STORAGE CAPACITY AND SALE PROGRAMS WERE DETERMINED IN ORDER TO MAXIMISE THE OVERALL PROFIT OF THE FIRM. IN ADDITION, VARIABLE COSTS AND OTHER PROBLEMS WERE STUDIED.
