Summary
In last decades, design and construction of new thermal devices has been increased, with the aim to optimize alternative energy sources usage. In this research, an optimum solar collector arrangement according to the climatic conditions existing in Yucatan Peninsula has been developed, which, would be joined to an air-cooling absorption system prototype to reducing the electric energy consumption in air conditioning. The possible competitiveness of these systems is determined by the energy useful obtained through a better utilization of available resources, so, the application of techniques such as exergy analysis, exergy life cycle assessment and depletion number in a feasibility analysis allows evaluating the design and implementation of new technologies in a real way. Obtaining an optimum area of 11.32 m2 to satisfy the energy demand of 5 kW of a prototype absorption system with a reduction in the construction material, requiring an arrangement of 3 Evacuated Tube Collectors with range operating temperatures from 60 to 120°C, optimizing the performance in exergy and economic aspects according the environmental conditions, with this approach the solar air conditioning systems would be a rentable and sustainable option for the environmental conditions in Yucatan Peninsula, with Mexican technology, ensuring proper operation and low cost.
