Type of article: Article
Summary
An experimental investigation has been conducted with regard to the natural convection of water near the density extremum in rectangular enclosures with the vertical walls held at different temperatures. The authors' attention was focused on flow development in the presence of a density inversion. The experiment was performed to examine the onset of oscillatory flow and the main features of the flow. The authors examined the effect of the initial temperature on the flow pattern.
