Summary

DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEMS ARE PROPOSED FOR BUILDINGS AND DWELLIN GS, WHICH CAN MANAGE THE PASSIVE SOLAR GAINS, NATURAL VENTILATION, HEATING, AND LIGHTING IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY MINIMIZE ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND PROVIDE GOOD THERMAL AND DAYLIGHTING CONDITIONS YEAR-ROUND. THIS WILL BE CARRIED OUT BY AN INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEM FOR WINDOW DEVICES AND THE TRADITIONAL LIGHTING AND HEATING SYSTEM. CONCEPTS AND TECHNIQUES TO BE USED FOR THE DESIGN ARE DESCRIBED. THE SIMILARITY TO THE < INTELLIGENT BUILDING > OR < SMART HOUSE > CONCEPTIS POINTED OUT.
