Summary

As part of the concerns to find sustainability in the energy consumption for heating building spaces, a new system based on water absorption by a lithium bromide aqueous solution and capable of storing and releasing heat throughout interseasonal periods is presented in this article. A prototype of the system has been constructed and a detailed simulation model to evaluate the sorption processes in the reactor has been developed. A rigorous description of the model and a validation against experimental results is showed. A good coincidence between tests and simulations performances was found and the critical influence of the wetness capability of surfaces on the heat exchangers is highlighted.
