PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A CRAWLSPACE HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION.

Summary

A CONVENTIONAL AIR-TO-AIR HEAT PUMP CAN OFFER THE CONSUMER SUBSTANTIAL ENERGY SAVINGS BUT IT PERFORMS VERY POORLY AT LOW AMBIENT TEMPERATURES. DURING COOLING OPERATION AN AIR-TO-AIR HEAT PUMP IS LEAST EFFICIENT AT HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY WAS TO EXPERIMENTALLY EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCE OF A CRAWLSPACE HEAT PUMP DURING A HEATING AND COOLING SEASON. THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CRAWLSPACE HEAT PUMP IS COMPARED TO THE PERFORMANCE EXPECTED FOR A CONVENTIONAL HEAT PUMP.
