Performance of an evaporator for a heat pump under frosting conditions.

Author(s) : SHIN S. H., IM Y. B., HAYASE G., et al.

Summary

Heat transfer rate of refrigerant, air side pressure drop and enhancement factor were presented with respect to the frosting time. The air side pressure drop and the heat transfer rate of the evaporator with slit fin was higher than plate fin. The air-side pressure drop was increased as the fin pitch was decreased and the face velocity of air was increased. The heat transfer rate was increased at the beginning of the test as the fin pitch of the evaporator was decreased. As the frost was accumulated, the heat transfer rate was increased as the fin pitch of the evaporator was increased.
