Summary
Carbon dioxide (R-744) is an energy-efficient, globally-applicable, sustainable refrigerant technology capable of satisfying the broadest range of commercial cold drink equipment demands. Forecasts also predict cost competitiveness of carbon dioxide refrigeration systems at global, commercial quantities. This paper provides an insight into the due diligence processes followed by the Coca-Cola Company and its development partners in exploring climate-friendly refrigerant options. The conclusion is that CO2-based refrigeration is currently the best option for the global needs of Coca-Cola's sales and marketing equipment.
