Summary
During the last decade a new methodology for the analysis and design of heat and power systems, called pinch technology, has led to significant energy savings in the chemical and processing industries. Pinch technology is firmly based on thermodynamic analysis concepts. This approach should be extended to apply to refrigerating and heat pumping systems.
