Optimum pressure drop and temperature differences in heat exchange.
Author(s) : STEINMEYER D.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Heat exchange design often gives insufficient thought to optimization of temperature difference and pressure drop related to the cost of the system as a whole. The author bases his paper on pumped fluid costs against the cost of heat exchange surface, influenced naturally by factors of conductivity and temperature gradients. The arguments and examples refer to the hydrocarbon processing industry, but are equally valid for normal refrigeration systems. D.W.H.
