Possibilities, control, capacity and design of radiant floor cooling systems.
Author(s) : OLESEN B. W.
Summary
Notes that in space with seated or standing people the floor temperature should be no lower than 19 deg C for comfort reasons. The heat exchange coefficient between a chilled floor and the room is approximately 7 watts/m2.deg C, which means that at an operative temperature in summer of 26 deg C the maximum cooling capacity for a floor system is 45-50 watts/m2. Where there is a lot of direct sunshine on the floor as in atria or spaces with large windows, the cooling capacity may reach 150 watts/m2. Control must ensure there are no problems with condensation.
