Summary

Possible explanations are given for the resistive transitions around 250 K in the superconducting mercury-BCCO materials synthesized under high pressure, which are based on the intercalation of foreign ions into the host lattices. This intercalation may improve the distortion degree of the cupper oxide bonds and may favour the charge transfer from the charge reservoir layers to the cupper oxide planes at a higher transition temperature than in mercury-1223 and mercury-1245 phases.
