Summary

A METHOD IS DESCRIBED FOR PREDICTING THE RELIABILITY OF REFRIGERATION PLANT, AT THE DESIGN STAGE, ACCORDING TO OPERATING SAFETY CHARACTERISTICS: AVERAGE OPERATING TIME BETWEEN TWO SUCCESSIVE FAILURES, EVIDENCE OF FRAGILE COMPONENTS AND THE SELECTION OF HIGHLY RELIABLE PLANT. CALCULATION RESULTS ARE PRESENTED FOR THE AVERAGE OPERATING TIME BETWEEN TWO SUCCESSIVE FAILURES FOR TWO DIFFERENT REFRIGERATION PLANT OF A MEAT COMBINE WITH A THROUGHPUT OF 100 T OF MEAT PER STATION, SHOWING THAT THE AVERAGE OPERATING TIME BETWEEN TWO SUCCESSIVE FAILURES OF A COMPOUND PLANT IS 1.6 TIMES HIGHER THAN WITH A CONVENTIONAL PLANT.
